<p>"Patchwork", a Gran Schpountz schooner with topsail, built in 1982 according to the design of Daniel Bombigher, has circumnavigated the globe (+ over 15,000 miles traveled in the Atlantic and Pacific in the last 7 years). It's a one-owner boat, maintained by its owner and flies the French flag.</p>

<p>Constructed with molded wood on laminated glued frames, entirely made from Iroko wood, masts and spars in Oregon Pine.</p>

<p>Currently, viewings can be arranged in Sao Paulo. A conveyance to Barcelona is planned for September 2023.</p>

<p>Patchwork was built in the '70s in a former school in the Vosges, northeastern France. Her first launch took place in a river, and her maiden voyage was across France via the canals and the Rhone, until she reached the Mediterranean. In 1982, the construction was completed with the masts and all the rigging.</p>

<p>The port captain of Gruissan invited Patchwork to become the flagship of every local regatta. She stayed in this port until 2015. The owners lived on board and sailed to Corsica, Spain, and the Balearic Islands in the summer. They raised their son on board.</p>

<p>The son, Thomas, took over the boat when his parents moved into a house. Along with his wife, they carried out a complete refit between 2011 and 2015 and set sail in November 2015 to circumnavigate the globe. Through the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, the Caribbean, and then the Panama Canal, they went all the way to French Polynesia, and back across the Pacific to Chile.</p>

<p>Patchwork is a very comfortable boat, both at anchor and sailing. Designed by Daniel Z Bombigher, a famous French architect in the '70s, her classic look was inspired by the 19th-century American schooner while the construction and deck features were modernized using the best techniques. The 'Gran Schpountz' is a romantic schooner with a strong build (strip planking and laminated frames) and the interior is meticulously finished. The square sails are perfect for downwind sailing, and she can reach up to 8 knots when close-hauled. The Genoa was installed to facilitate maneuvers, as the owners were sailing just the two of them. They kept the forward sails in case one would prefer the 100% classic look.</p>
